The General Data Protection Regulation comes into force today, and the UK (along with the rest of the EU) now has what are arguably the toughest data protection laws in the world, with penalties for infringement of up to €20 million or 4% of global turnover. The UK Government has already indicated that it will retain the GDPR after Brexit, and the UK’s own Data Protection Act 2018, which extends and supplements the GDPR in a number of key areas, received last minute Royal Assent.
At Gordon Dadds Group we have made a concerted effort to implement and reflect the new rules in our own policies and practices. You can see our new Data Protection Notice, which explains how we handle personal data for clients, contacts and others, here.
