15/04/2014

Gordon Dadds, the Mayfair-based law firm, has stepped up its strategic growth initiative with the opening of an office in a prime location in Cardiff, after recruiting two of the leading lawyers in South Wales. Gordon Dadds’ new legal and property services firm will serve the London and South East markets with an investment backed by £200,000 business finance from the Welsh Government to create 14 jobs. Welcoming the announcement, Economy Minister Edwina Hart, said: “I am delighted Gordon Dadds is expanding and opening an office in Wales and joining our rapidly expanding financial and professional services sector. It is a priority economic sector supported by the Welsh Government to create jobs, growth and wealth. “We have ambitious plans to make Wales the most competitive region in the UK for this sector outside London and I wish Gordon Dadds every success with its new office. I am confident it will find the business environment in Wales conducive to its growth plans.” Nigel Morgan, whose background lies in commercial property, left his position as the senior partner of another Cardiff-based law firm to join Gordon Dadds. He is the driving force behind the firm’s high profile entry to the Welsh law scene and is also largely responsible for bringing Wendy Hopkins on board. A well-known and highly respected member of Cardiff’s business community, Nigel and associate Sheila James found the attraction of a new challenge irresistible and has been instrumental in not only orchestrating the launch of Gordon Dadds in Wales but also establishing the firm’s new offices in Windsor Place, Cardiff. “Gordon Dadds is a leading independent law firm with an excellent reputation for corporate, property, commercial litigation, private client and family work – and an aspiring international presence,” he says. “The firm’s creative and energetic approach to business is both exciting and inspiring and I am very much looking forward to working alongside Wendy and the team to develop Gordon Dadds as a niche law firm in the Welsh market.” Wendy, who is widely acknowledged as one of the best-known and most respected specialists in her field, agrees: “Nigel heads up a fantastic team of specialists in Cardiff and I am very much looking forward to playing my part in helping Gordon Dadds achieve even greater success in the future.” A dynamic business woman as well as an experienced family law specialist, Wendy qualified as a solicitor in 1978. She has specialised in divorce and family law for over 30 years, acting on behalf of many high profile clients, who have sought her out not only because of the depth of her knowledge and expertise, but also because of her reputation for taking a firm stance and having a positive attitude on behalf of her clients. Wendy started her own practice in 1996 and then went on to found Hopkins Law 10 years later. She sees her move to Gordon Dadds as a natural progression, enabling her to bring her knowledge and skills to an even wider client base. Adrian Biles, Managing Partner at Gordon Dadds agrees: “This is a very exciting time for us. Nigel and Wendy, working with their team, have done a great job in establishing a base for the practice in Cardiff and we are delighted to be starting the New Year in such a positive way.”
