We were delighted to entertain guests of the Firm at our annual Polo Event on Friday 4th September. This exclusive event took place at the West Wycombe Polo Club in High Wycombe, whose picturesque grounds provide the backdrop to Downtown Abbey.
Friend of Gordon Dadds, and International player and HPA Registered Coach, Tarquin Southwell started the day talking our guests through the ‘Game of Polo’, discussing his past experiences and the variations of the game.
We then split into grey and white teams. The white team were taken to the wooden horses to master the art of positioning on the horse, and the grey team had a coaching session on controlling the mallet and ball. After swapping training groups, the participants were ready for the real deal, and took to their horses.
Once everyone was comfortable in the saddle and confident they could control their horses, they had the opportunity to take part in an instructional chukka, a taste of what it’s like to play Polo, with a professional on each team.
Our guests won’t mind us saying that they arrived with mixed abilities, with some comfortable on horses and some never having been on a horse, but by the end of their training sessions, they impressed the coaches with how well they took to the game.
Lunch was then served and the champagne was flowing as our guests enjoyed a professional exhibition match between Gordon Dadds, captained by Real Estate Partner Justin Neal, and the West Wycombe Park Polo Club. The match resulted in a hard fought draw, and after the match prizes were awarded to the guest participants that showed great courage and enthusiasm for the game and throughout the day.
