I trained and qualified at Fladgate LLP where I worked for 11 years before joining Gordon Dadds as a Partner in 2018.

I have almost 10 years of experience in private client work. I specialise in capital gains tax and income tax including advising non-domiciled individuals on residence and remittance issues and advise on trusts (both onshore and offshore) and inheritance tax planning. I have extensive experience acting on the setting up and administering of UK charities.

I regularly write on private client issues and am a member of STEP.

My interests outside of work include football, hiking, travelling, history and current affairs.

LLB – Bachelor of Law
LPC – Legal Practice Course
STEP Diploma – Administration of Trusts & Estates.

Previous experience include:

  • Acting for the executors of the estate of a leading figure in the motorsport industry and dealing with a number of specialist issues connected to that industry
  • Acting for the executors of the estate of a high profile public figure including dealing with issues such as valuing royalty payments and asserting rights over intellectual property
  • Advising the trustees of a high profile charity on its creation and registration with the Charity Commission and HMRC and the trustees’ duties under charity law
  • Assisting a client with his proposed purchase of a Formula 1 race car for personal use. The deal required a multi-discipline team to co-ordinate their efforts and specifically required me to advise on the tax implications of the purchase taking into account the client’s non-domiciled position, potential remittances to the UK and his intended plan to transport the vehicle around Europe racing the most famous circuits.
  • Advising a UK tax resident, non-domiciled individual on a series on interconnected offshore trusts that held UK residential assets valued at over £30 million. The work involved the application of the complex transfer of assets abroad rules and capital gains tax matching legislation and reporting the relevant information to HMRC on my clients behalf.  The client was assisted in successfully claiming the tax exemptions known as the “motive defences” and with the conclusion of a HMRC enquiry to the full satisfaction of the client. More recent work involved amending the structures to remain optimal in line with changing UK tax legislation.
