I am a partner in the employment team and also head of business development for the firm. I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2001 with an Honours degree in Law with French, having spent a year in New York working at a niche law firm in Manhattan. When I returned to the UK I qualified at Seddons in 2004, moved to Davenport Lyons in 2007, and joined Gordon Dadds in 2014.
I advise on all aspects of contentious and non contentious employment law, for both employers and employees, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy/restructure and TUPE. I have extensive experience in employment tribunal litigation and I often advise both employers and senior executives negotiating new contracts of employment, exit packages and on the enforceability of restrictive covenants.
Outside work, I enjoy travelling and sport, including social netball, yoga and running. I have completed marathons in London and San Sebastian. I am also (by marriage) a supporter of Crystal Palace FC and have recently been accepted onto the waiting list to become a member of the MCC.
What is your best legal anecdote?
Following a performance as a barrister at our mock Employment Tribunal seminar, my client said that I reminded her of The Good Wife - possibly my proudest moment to date!
What is your most interesting legal experience?
A litigation client decided mid proceedings, without consulting me, to dismiss our key witness. He, in turn, promptly fled abroad in an effort to avoid giving evidence. We tracked him down via Facebook and persuaded him to return, only to find that he intended to give evidence on behalf of the claimant. With minutes to spare, he was persuaded of the error of his ways and gave evidence for our client. We won the case. I’m not sure my blood pressure has ever really recovered!

"I had the pleasure of working with Rebecca whilst at John Laing (latterly Carillon) Integrated Services, and the advice received was always of the highest quality. I have to say though that what differentiates Rebecca from all other good lawyers is her ability to gain insights quickly, gain agreement on approach with no legalese bamboozling and the commercial edge she has when deciding outcomes. It is rare indeed when someone so technically excellent brings both a human and a commercial approach at the same time." - Penny Garnett, Interim HRD at Pennywise HR Consultancy
"A lawyer friend of mine highly recommended Gordon Dadds because they're a reputable firm with an excellent track record in Employment law. And I can see why. From my very first conversation with Rebecca she was professional, helpful and thorough. She gave me sound and practical advice. But apart from her professionalism, she was kind, honest and extremely patient. A brilliant lawyer, I can't recommend her highly enough." - Homara Choudhary, Television Producer
