I joined Gordon Dadds in 2014 to assist with the opening of the firm’s Welsh office in Cardiff. I qualified as a solicitor in 1978 and have extensive expertise in family law, particularly in high value matrimonial finance and child arrangement orders. I work closely with my clients to secure the best possible outcome, with a firm but positive, empathetic approach, especially where children are involved. I have acted for a large number of high profile clients and their spouses, including sports stars and TV personalities as well as senior business directors, medical surgeons and other professionals.
What is your best legal anecdote?
Some 20 years ago I was acting on behalf of a businessman husband following a two year matrimonial financial dispute and a five day financial hearing in the High Court in London with a combined legal bill of husband and wife of some £250,000.00. The wife telling her husband as we left court “she never thought she would lose”! She was so committed to her mistaken belief that the Judge would agree completely with her view of all the issues in the dispute that she carried on regardless to her great financial cost. She got less than she had been offered initially and all the costs reducing the matrimonial financial pot substantially were effectively wasted.
What is your most interesting legal experience?
The combination of complex financial matters and the personalities of clients and their spouses and partners mean that all of my cases are interesting.
